The definition of a mutiny is as follows, “open rebellion against the proper authorities, especially by soldiers or sailors against their officers”. I suppose, if we were going by definition, a mutiny was formed between Maryk and Keith against captain Queeg. Yet, with that being said I don’t believe this to be an unjust mutiny. This was a decision made by commanding officers aboard a ship to save their crew. It was clear through the film that captain Queeg was mentally unfit to do his job. This was most clear in the scene where the ship is going through a typhoon, as Captain Queeg gave instructions that put the ship and his entire crew in immediate danger, as he orders the ship to keep fighting through the harsh, unbearable waves. I believe that article one-hundred and eighty-five of the Navy Regulation would help prove my answer to be correct. …show more content…
