The name 7 Eleven originated in 1946 when the stores were open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Today, offering busy shoppers 24-hour convenience, seven days a week is the cornerstone of 7 Eleven's business. 7 eleven is a third party because they only provide a place with all those different goods. These goods are came from different company and suppliers such as Kraft, nestle, walls, unilever, and so on. So, 7 eleven headquarters need to consolidate all the product that being order by the store based on the data they have sent in a box that called tote box.

The company uses Combined Distribution Centers (CDCs) to deliver the products sold include beverage, snacks, foods, stationaries and drinks. By improving CDC efficiency, 7-Eleven would reduce operating expenses and better manage the daily delivery of fresh food products to the stores. It would also help to ensure accurate, timely and damage-free product delivery.
For 7-Eleven, some best methods reduced the amount of time it took to complete an activity. For example, CDCs are responsible for sorting products accurately and in a timely manner for each store served from the facility (typically between 300 – 700 stores per CDC). Products are placed in a specified location for each store, staged for loading and then placed onto trucks for delivery. Placing the right product and quantity for the correct store is vital to the company’s success, but it can also be a very time-consuming task. Figure 5 Figure
