After observing Student A for almost a month a gained insight that she struggled in both math and reading. When speaking with her teachers they both have examined the same thing. The teachers both explained that since third grade she has not yet passed the milestone testing. During small group instruction there are days where she will try to do the work and other days she will look off into space and not want to do anything. I often have to encourage her to stay on task with anything she does whether it’s individual or in small group instruction.…

Therefore, game play should not be the only platform of learning within a classroom. Games can get kids interested and will start to develop these skills; but experience and practice is what will help them learn to use the knowledge they are accumulating. Whether it be by taking field trips more often, or doing more experiments and projects in class, activity is the best way to get kids involved in what they are learning. By letting them put their knowledge into practice, it let’s them see how important education is when it comes to solving problems or working towards a goal. A typical day at the Angevine IHAD program consists of the students starting in their homeroom. In their homerooms, they write down what they have to do for the day and Kate checks off their plan. There were seven students in Kate’s homeroom today. After planner checks, we head to flex time, which is after-school recess. The teachers I observed at the lower grade levels of first and second grade used Core Curriculum. These teachers followed specific guidelines in their teacher’s guide books to help them schedule activities and lessons for the week. Because of the upcoming science STTAR, my observation of Ms. de la Fuente’s fifth grade class this week was a little different than usual. The teachers switched classes from lunch until one thirty to better prepare the students for the test. In this way, they would learn the information through different teaching styles. My observation of Ms. de la Fuente’s 5th grade class this week started after lunch during their math time. On Wednesday, their schedule had been different from normal and there was two other teachers in the classroom teaching them about different types of rocks. On Thursday, a sixth grade math teacher came to the classroom to further explain what they had been learning about conversions, and to tell them about what they would learn next year when they went to sixth grade.. During arrival in the morning and dismissal in the afternoon, the same routine is followed on almost all days. I have loved every moment spent at my site these past 8 weeks and look forward to the weeks ahead. I am observing at the first Pre-K in the district that I graduated from. The school and classroom is very welcoming, I have enjoyed getting to know all 16 of the children, seeing their shyness slip away and their personalities come out. Being able to be apart of the children’s day once a week has taught me so much about how a public school is ran and especially the Pre-K. The teacher and Ed tech have shared so much insightful information with me about classrooms and working with 4 and 5 year olds.…
My observation for this assignment took place right before the end of the school year. I was fortunate to be paired with my favorite elementary teacher and mentor, Stacey Bingham. This year the sixth grade students boarded the plane to Middle School. For the first time, the sixth grade students had to be able to do many things that they were not used to doing in fifth grade back in Elementary School. Some of those things include being able to open a combination lock, being able to get to classes on time with a four minute passing period, and they had to manage nine different classes throughout the entire school day. Also, the sixth graders did some really exciting things this year such as mummifying a chicken in Social Studies. Throughout the school year the school held a couple pf parties for just the sixth grade students to enjoy.…
