5G Case Study

Improved Essays
ABSTRACT:
The cellular industry has already started laying the foundation for 5G, as the 4G deployments are happening worldwide. However, there are few questions that are being discussed among research institutions, standards bodies, operators, the supplier community, trade organizations and governments – What will be the 5G deployment time frame? What will characterize networks beyond 2020? What are the likely technologies that will come in to play for 5G? This paper is a survey paper, in an attempt to address these questions in a systematic way. This paper presents the 5G use cases, requirements, spectrum requirements, considerations and the technology elements. The 5G use cases described in Section II include the Internet of Things (IoT),

2. USE CASES FOR 5G
The main focus of 3G and 4G technologies have been on the mobile broadband use cases and never on enhanced system capacity. The future 5G era mainly focus on providing enhanced system capacity and offering higher data rates. However, Future 5G Networks should offer wireless access to anyone, anywhere and anything and it means wireless access will go beyond humans and expand to serve any entity that may benefit from being connected. Often this vision is known as “the Internet of Things (IoT),” “machine-to-machine communications (M2M),” “the Networked Society,” or “machine-centric communications.” Future times, even machines need to talk to WANs for home security, alarm monitoring, fleet management and many other applications will continue to grow and it is not impossible for machine customers to outnumber human customers.
2.1. INTERNET OF THINGS

In other words, the density of cellular devices (devices/area) will increase and the larger part of this increase will be coming from M2M services, which require much higher data rates compared to current available rates of few hundreds of Mbps(LTE-A targeted for 500 Mbps).
2.4. PUBLIC SAFETY NETWORKS
The U.S. and Canada are planning to deploy an LTE broadband network for public safety at 700 MHz to leverage pricing of standardized commercial equipment. Some of the other nations will take a lead from it, soon follow the same path. So, it is important that 5G should consider the public safety use cases of monitoring the public spaces and property with High-resolution security cameras, Drone-or robot-based surveillance systems for monitoring remote areas, intrusion detection with the help of wireless sensors and tracking devices, Chemical, bio and nuclear hazard detection and emergency personnel tracking.
3. REQUIREMENTS FOR 5G
As a result of many of the industry and standards body initiatives that have progressed with work on 5G and the requirements that are broadly accepted [2],[3],[4] is depicted in the figure

The core objectives of this lab is to understand the concept of cell association of received power (Rx) and designing a modified network planning for an LTE services using multiple eNodeBs for an indoor premises (shopping complex). We are also going to compare the noise limited and interference limited systems along with its interference synchronization in radio access network. To accomplish these objectives, we are going to perform the following tasks: 1. To expand the indoor design of LTE service for the shopping complex, we are going to use seven femtocell and will perform the SINR (signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio) and bit-rate using the simulation tool Wireless Insite and MATLAB for coding.…

For the successful implementation and for having better network performance, millimeter wave antennas, small cells, device to device communication along with mobile cloud computing for data analysis could be used in a 5G network. Hence, it is important to design a network that supports the integration of different technologies for providing high data traffic and better QoS [13]. These technologies are standalone technologies because of which a platform should be designed that brings these technologies together for the 5G network…

Consequently, this is an opportunity of mobile phone companies, which support for this project for example, Verizon, AT&T or T-Mobile, have more channel for advertisements of their own promotion or new innovation. Moreover, another objective of this project is that to provide the Internet to needy people, who cannot afford to pay for high cost of network (LinkNYC benefits outweigh costs, 2014). This implies that Mobile phone companies will have more potentials to provide a service for people who have lower income or find new customers especially in a low income…
