I want to student assess individually so that I know how they are doing on achieving the learning goals. I would consider moving the timing of the end of the book to end more closely to the day of the test. Jinx, was read as a read aloud book, but the book end more quickly than anticipated. I would have liked the book to end closer to the post-assessment date so, that students had the text at the forefront of their memory.

I suggest the use of a program such as, Dragonfly, which is a speech to text converter. This will allow their tasks t be scribed without having to have a teacher pull them out to scribe for them. For FS2 in the future after for assessments have been done to see if their lack of details came from a general confusion on the topic of theme or the need for more modifications, I would consider adding more sentence starters or possibly scribing for

This student struggles with spelling, which overwhelms them and makes it hard for them to focus on translating their ideas. The modification of scribing for them allows them to verbally express themselves and focus on answering the question and not spelling. One modification that was successful for FS2 was the sentence starters. The sentence starters gave FS2 a place to start their thinking and allowed them to focus on coming up with their theme and support. This ensured the student would not become overwhelmed with how to start his assessment.
b) In the future, I will continue to have these modifications in place. These students have some modifications written into their IEPs which makes them accessible for them in all situations, but I will communicate the success of these modifications to their other teachers to ensure they are being supported in all areas. FS1 may possible have success with a software program called “Dragonfly”. This program allows the student to speak and it turns their speech into text, which could replace a person scribing for

I continue to explain that not all teachers will accept this work because it is illegible to some degree and this can greatly affect his grade. When conferring with student B my average student, I gave her positive feedback on the things she did correctly and we discussed why she got partial credits for question 2 and 4 on the written response portion of the assessment. I pointed out that on question2 she had omitted the name of the text features uses to answer the questions, and question 4 she did not write a complete sentence as the instruction stated. I asked her what was a definition of each text feature she missed she was able to verbalize the answer to me which demonstrated she knew the answer but made an error and did not take the time to review her work before she turned it in.…

I've posted your earned mid-term grades in English 111 on Banner and will be glad to discuss your situation with you individually sometime next week, if you'd like. These are information grades. As usual, knowledge is power: What the grade tells you gives you a chance to be pro-active in ways that might ensure your success in the course. A proper response to a mid-term grade is neither resignation nor smugness. Without my forcing the issue, the overall average at mid-term in my two sections of English 111 happens to be exactly 2.0 or "C," a reasonable outcome for a first-semester college course, one that includes several failures by students who simply quit coming to class and submitting the assigned writing projects.…

Over the course of English 102, I have developed a new set of skills and learned to become a better writer. When I first came into English 102 I struggled with many different concepts of writing. During the semester in English 102, my writing became stronger because I learned how to incorporate evidence into my argument, do more thorough research, have smoother transitions, and have more organization throughout my essay. I learned how to peer review better and to take what others say and incorporate it into my essay. In the beginning, before English 102, I struggled with good organization and flow to an essay, sandwich evidence into paragraphs, and having strong arguments in persuasive essays.…

Parents and teachers often have trouble deciphering what they wrote, and also students struggle with reading their own notes sometimes. Graham remarks that, “All beginning writers struggle with fluency and legibility to some extent, and that inevitably affects their approach to composing. Young writers typically cope with the multiple demands of handwriting and composing by minimizing the composing process (planning, organizing, etc.)” (Graham, 2010, p.50). If there is early attention put into handwriting about student’s legibility there will be a decrease in the likelihood of them becoming poor writers in the…
