The 4th of July is coming up in less than ten days, and it's the biggest chance of the year to get together with friends and family and watch an amazing amount of beautiful fireworks. Over the last few years, more and more people are choosing to do this from their own or from rented boats. This is a wonderful idea, but there are some things you should prepare before heading out to make sure you have a wonderful evening free of accidents. Here are 4 tips for safely watching fireworks from your boat this 4th of July.

Firstly, and perhaps most importantly, you should try to find your spot as early in the day as possible. You'd be surprised at the amount of people that take out their boats on this date, and if you get there late, you might struggle

The highest amount of boating accidents occur when too many boats try to leave the same spot at once and get back to the dock as soon as possible. You've already spent hours in your spot - What's the big deal? If you want just two more hours you'll be entirely alone there. It's supposed to be a day of celebration anyways, so what's the rush?

Thirdly, make sure all your equipment is good to go the day before heading out, and once again on the same day some hours before. This will give you enough time to fix any problems that might pop up, or cancel the trip altogether if it came to that (Hopefully it wouldn't!). This will guarantee that you won't get in trouble for failing to meet regulations (all the famous spots for firework watching are regulated by authorities!), and it also means that you won't run into unexpected issues when you're already there - if your boat stops working, it could be an inconvenience to others or even cause an accident!

Lastly, just don't go! There are many other ways to enjoy the 4th of July that require less stress and preparation. It's very easy nowadays to buy fireworks online - you can organize a nice little barbecue, get your friends and family, and enjoy a nice 4th of July by putting on your own
