2) The sound waves travel into your body and hit a boundary between tissues (e.g. between fluid and soft tissue, soft tissue and bone). 3) Some of the sound waves get reflected back to the probe, while some travel on further until they reach another boundary and get reflected. 4) The reflected waves are picked up by the probe and relayed to the machine. 5) The machine calculates the distance from the probe to the tissue or organ (boundaries) using the speed of sound in tissue (5,005 ft/s or1,540 m/s) and the time of the each echo's return (usually on the order of millionths of a second). 6) The machine displays the distances and intensities of the echoes on the screen, forming a two dimensional image like the one shown below” (Freudenrich, 2016, …show more content…
The display is the monitor where the image produced through the ultrasound is displayed. A 3D, or any ultrasound could not be conducted without the transducer probe, this probe is the eyes and ears of the produce. The transducer probe sends out the sound waves to find the object and then receives the vibrations that are reflected back, all along collecting the information that it sends to the CPU. The Central Processing Unit (CPU) is the computer that is operating specialized software that interprets the sound waves. The interpretation of sound waves is then converted into an image, or video. The transducer pulse controls are used to control and make any changes to the frequency, duration, and the amplitude of the pulses that are being produced by the transducer probe (Freudenrich, 2016, p.3). Now the keyboard is essentially the same as a regular keyboard for a regular computer, used to enter measurements and/or other data collected from the ultrasound. The hard drive storage is used to save the images from the ultrasound onto a CD or DVD, so that the ultrasound can be forever saved. Similarly to the keyboard the printer is used to print images taken during the ultrasound. The printer is most often utilized by expecting parents that what the save the first precious moments of their
