The values stated for “recreational men and women” were 72.8 +/- 9.1 seconds. Therefore, all the members of our group tested within this range. As would be expected, Division I male athletes test ranges are almost twenty seconds faster. Given the importance of explosive movements and fast change of directions in the execution of this test, a developed athlete will tend to excel in this type of evaluation. Furthermore, this type of test may be inappropriate for populations outside of young, healthy adults with little history of lower extremity conditions or injuries. Even recreational participants of sport and fitness may not be developing the lateral movement and directional changing skills required to perform well on this evaluation.
