Engineering is the thing that makes human’s dream become real. Many children have been fascinated by space, from Star Wars to Star Trek and wondered about space travel. In the movie “ 2001: A Space Odyssey,” it was described that people who were not an astronaut had meal and went to the lavatory in space ship. People at the time of the movie did not believe that space travel became real, but nowadays, people who are not astronaut can go to space travel. Thanks to the development in the field of aerospace engineering, more safety and cheap spaceship have been invented. Of course, engineering contribute to society not only from aspect of fun but also practical. Many car driver have hoped that they could drive without getting behind the wheel. …show more content…
The field which help me to achieve my dream is aerospace engineering because aerospace engineering is the study of rocket and spacecraft. The large difference between aerospace engineering and other field of engineering is the place to work. Many engineering products from car to building work on earth. However, many product of aerospace engineering work outside of earth. An spacecraft, a planet rover and an artificial satellite are developed on the assumption that they work at inconceivably hard environment include absolute zero point, nuclear radiation, different amount of gravity and so on. So, an aerospace engineer works on earth but their imagination works in space. Moreover, they work for human’s curiosity. The reason why they lunch many spacecraft is to know about the planet or to know about where living things start etc. No one would have trouble, if he or she could not know about it, but aerospace engineer keep working for curiosity. Some people say a government should not pay large about of many for space industry, there are a lot of field to pay include welfare, poverty and so on. However, Dr. Linus Pauling, who was American chemist, said “Satisfaction of one’s curiosity in one of the greatest sources of happiness in life.” As Dr. Pauling said, curiosity is important factor for our life. Then the field of aerospace engineering has possibility that it could inspire many people’s curiosity. Therefore, the reason why I am fascinated by aerospace engineering is not only my interest but also the aspect that it could stimulate many people’s

In Arthur C. Clarke’s space epic , 2001: A Space Odyssey, two men are on a spaceship alone with an advanced AI computer HAL 9000 who maintains the ship's stability and mental health and well-being of the crew. HAL being a computer he couldn’t be completely trusted and caused him to lie about a mechanical failure and killed the crew. Dave, the main crew member, knew that “ I am so much more capable than you are of supervising the ship”(187) than HAL after he said that he would control the ship. After explaining this to the computer he proceeded to tell him that “When the crew are dead or incapacitated ... the onboard computer must assume control”(188).…

2001: a space odyssey is a science-fiction novel published in 1968, written by Arthur C. Clarke and a science-fiction film released in (the same year as the novel) 1968, and directed by Stanley Kubrick. The following are all the differences I noticed while watching the film; No narration: I feel there should have been at least some narration in the beginning, so people can better grasp what is happening (i watched this film with my mother, who hasn't read the book, and i had to explain some things because it was making no sense). Floyd doesn't have a conversation with the stewardess on the plane: In the novel he talks to her about his kids, about where she is from, and they flirt a little, but in the film he's asleep the whole flight and the most interaction they have is when she puts his pen back into his coat pocket.…

The field of engineering impacts our society in many, many ways. There are the most obvious impacts, technological and technical improvements (means of transportation, electronics, resource distributions services, et cetera), but there are impacts that may be somewhat vague, such as global and societal impacts. Both impacts must be weighted equally by the modern, citizen engineer. As an engineering student in southeast Ohio, one of the more recent and relevant examples of engineering impacting a society is the construction of the Nelsonville Bypass project. U.S. Route 33 ran through this small town, of approximately 5,400 people, and this section typically averaged about 19,000 vehicles per day with 15 percent being semi trucks.…
