19th Century Weather Forecasting In The United States

Great Essays
Weather is something that the world faces on a daily basis. The art of weather forecasting began with early civilizations using reoccurring astronomical and meteorological events to help them monitor seasonal changes in the weather (Griffin, 2005). During the 1800s, weather observations began to grow and expand across the United States (Uccellini, 2015). During the 19th century weather observations from distant points could be rapidly collected and analyzed at one location (Uccellini, 2015). The 20th century brought a lot of improvements to weather, some of these things I will mention in my paper.
People have to make accommodations for their daily activities depending on what the weather forecast is going to be. People also have to dress around what the weather

Solar energy is generated from the sun. Solar energy is created by nuclear fusion that takes place in the sun (Buettner, 2015 ). Nuclear fusion occurs when protons of hydrogen atoms collide in the sun’s core and fuse together to create a helium atom (Buettner, 2015 ). The process is known as PP (proton- proton) chain reaction which emits excessive amounts of energy. In the core of the sun it fuses about 620 million metric tons of hydrogen every second. The PP reaction occurs in other stars that are around the same size as the sun and then provides them with repeated energy and heat (Buettner, 2015 ). Solar energy is constantly flowing away from the sun and throughout the solar system (Buettner, 2015 ). The energy and light from the sun flow away in the form of electromagnetic radiation (EMR) (Buettner, 2015 ). Solar panels are one of the devices that converts light into electricity. Solar panels are a collection of solar cells. Lots of smaller cells spread over a large area that works together to provide enough power to be useful. The more light that hits a cell, will result in how much electricity is

This action can create temperatures up to 3,630 degrees Fahrenheit, the heat can be used to make steam and then used to create electricity at power plants. Solar cells, another device used for making electricity, rely on the photoelectric effect which is the ability of matter to emit electrons when a light is shone on it. These electrons are then moved into an electric current, using silicon semi-conductors, to power satellites, calculators, and everything in between. Solar energy seems to be like an easy solution to the energy crisis right? Wrong, solar energy is unable to convert sunlight to energy efficiently nor at a reasonable cost.…

For example, when at Anderson, South Carolina, Donald Trump talks about the quicker-than-expected cold weather, using this to mock global warming, tweeting, "It's really cold outside, they are calling it a major freeze, weeks ahead of normal. Man, we could use a big fat dose of global warming!" This quote demonstrates Donald Trump's satirical remark on global warming; however, this very quote exemplifies the misunderstanding of many opponents of anthropogenic climate change. By definition, weather is the study of short-term conditions of the atmosphere and climate is the study of long-term conditions, patterns, and behaviors of the atmosphere, which may or may not affect a region’s local weather. Weather will always have dramatic and sudden changes which are strange and unusual to a particular region, and people are inclined to use these unusual events against global warming.…
