I do love today’s music. I’m big into pop and alternative music and I like to listen to whatever is on the radio. I also enjoy movie soundtracks such as The Greatest Showman and even Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. Although I’m happy where music is at today, If I could go back to any musical time period, I would definitely go back to the 80s when post-disco music became popular and rock continued to amuse a wide audience. The 1980s are remembered for pop artists such as Michael Jackson, Prince, Madonna, Whitney Houston and rock bands/artists such as AC/DC, Queen, Def Leppard, Kiss, and Bon Jovi. Other popular rock bands from the 70s continued popularity through the 80s including Journey, Foreigner, REO …show more content…
I have a ton of their songs saved on my phone that I listen to fairly often. My favorite song of theirs is Bohemian Rhapsody. It’s honestly a musical masterpiece. The song explores every possible dynamic and an incredible musical range. It also explores what feels like several different kinds of music genres all in one song. People say that if you get new earbuds or headphones, the first song you should listen to to test them out it Bohemian Rhapsody because of its musical range and dynamics and even capability to focus the music more on one side than another and vice versa. All in all, it’s just an incredible song that I for sure sing my heart out to alone in my car. My second favorite song of theirs is Somebody To Love. I first heard this song from one of my parents, but it also appeared in a childhood movie I watched called Ella Enchanted. Basically, it’s about a girl who is spelled to always do what she’s told. You could tell her to jump up and down and she’d have to do it. She goes on an adventure to find her fairy godmother that put the spell on her so that she can take it back and she takes this prince with her. Well on the way, they go to a bar to eat but it’s like a bar for giants? Which honestly doesn’t matter but they like to sing, so they make her sing Somebody To Love by Queen. That movie really made me fall in love with the song, plus it made me feel like the song was still relevant because it was used in a movie I …show more content…
I remember when Michael Jackson died in 2009. I was in Hershey, Pennsylvania with my dad and sister for my sister’s track meet or race clinic/camp type thing. It was around 4:00 when I was sitting in the car with the radio on and it was announced that Michael Jackson had died. I was only eight years old at the time, so I didn’t know exactly who Michael Jackson was nor could I identify his songs to his name, but I had heard many of his songs multiple times and I would totally have dance sessions to them, especially Thriller. After we returned home from Pennsylvania, I looked him up on YouTube and watched nearly every music video of his that I could find and I cried. It made me sad knowing that someone so musically talented had passed. Fast forward a few years, my mom and dad bought my sister and I a Playstation 3, along with the video game Guitar Hero. My sister and I watched my dad set it up and then we selected which song we wanted to play as our first song. Beat It by Michael Jackson was among the list, and I just had to play it. I, of course, did horribly the first time, but I practiced and practiced only that song until I could successfully play
