Question: Question 10
Answer: When anyone wishes to talk in confidence whether itâ€TMs a child at school or a parent of a child at school, they should be aware of the limits of talking in confidence.
For example: If a child comes to you needing to talk about a private issue they need to be made aware that although they can come to you and talk privately some issues may need to be discussed outside of the conversation with other people who may be able to help.
By telling the child upfront you will not be breaking their trust/confidence if you do need to speak to others.
As a teaching assistant a child may tell you something that by telling/informing their teacher would either help the child with a situation or just put the teacher in the picture of what may be going on with the child so they can keep an eye on them. If it were a more serious issue then the appropriate contacts would need to be made.
Some information will need to be shared about a child with staff. Like medical information.
For example: As a volunteer at my local school I have a girl in my swimming group who has asthma and a nut
