In September 2013 members of the United States Senate met to discuss mandatory minimum prison terms and during the hearings someone asked about the definition of a Kingpin. There exists no legal definition of a Kingpin in the United States. There exists no definition that explains how much drugs must be sold or managed before a person is called a Kingpin. There exist no specific dollar amount of drugs to be sold or a specified period of time before a person is called a Kingpin. So what makes a person a Kingpin for purposes of facing life imprisonment or a pine box sentence? Drug manufacturing and distribution is the equivalent of engaging in the unauthorized practice of dispensing drugs and pharmaceutical services. In most jurisdictions in America, the unauthorized practice of law and medicine are misdemeanors and are punishable by no more than twelve months in jail. However, the penalty for the unauthorized practice of dispensing drugs and manufacturing of drugs is up to life imprisonment or the death penalty. The War on Drugs is premised upon hypocrisy and corruption and has led to almost one million imprisoned Americans since its inception. The 7.2 million children with parents in prison are the legacy of the war on drugs. In addition to the 13 million African American babies murdered through abortion since…
The black cat shows great detail of the horror in this story. The author starts out by saying he is to be hung the next day sending chills down your spine in the first paragraph. You continue to read along to find out why he is to be hung and your answer is discovered later on in the story. Why is he to be hung? He has a past of animal abuse due to hit beat and mistreating many animals and his wife. One of the cats he had was a black cat named pluto. The author and pluto had a great bond but one…
Black Cat was born as Maahes, into a pride of vicious raiders. The pride had no mercy, even for their own, allowing the slaughter of their sick and wounded, so that their pelts and bones could be of some use to the pride. Maahes had two siblings, both of which were weak, and prone to illness - he fought continually to keep them safe from their own pridemates, and in doing so, earned the ire of many of the crueler lions around him. Each time the pride ran out of food, a raid would be led to…
First, find a parking spot. Make sure the parking spot is both big enough to fit your car and, also that your allowed to park there. Find a spot that you feel will be safe to park in, so you won’t hit another car. You will need a space that’s a few feet longer than your car. Also, the parking space must be a legal spot. You can’t park next to a driveway, near a construction zone, fire zones or a fire hydrant. Next, use your blinker to signal toward the space as you approach it, slow down,…
Can alcohol really make you go insane? or make you kill your love ones? The Black Cat is a short story told from the narrator himself, who eventually goes berserk and becomes abusive. He has many pets, but really and truly only loves his cat, Pluto, who ends up getting murdered, due to the narrator’s lack of control towards alcohol. This story shows just how big of an influence alcohol can be on one man’s life. The The Black Cat expresses many themes throughout the story, but I would have to say…
The Black Cat, the narrator is a psycho because in the beginning he would flip to crazy as fast as a light switch. He flipped one time and ended up cutting the eye out of his cat then he hung the cat by his neck off of a tree. He cut the eye out of the cat "Pluto" because pluto was old a very peevish and was a little grumpy that night and so the Narrator came home drunk a chased the cat around and the cat bite him on the hand because the cat wanted to be left alone.…
Why do people create stories of heroes? People use heroes as a coping mechanism to deal with the current problems of society. The most beloved heroes often times are representative of the culture they are formed and molded into. Captain America was created during World War II to create patriotism and morale in people during wartime America. The X-Men were created during the Civil Rights movement and was a metaphor for the racial inequality and dichotomy between white and black people the time of…
Reading this novel, I feel deeply horrible. Personally, it is disastrous to live with this kind of man who is an alcoholic and is easy to lose his temper, especially when he is drunk. I am gloomy with the man’s behavior and have pity on the black cat and the man’s wife. When I read The Black Cat, I saw a psycho, a murderer who cruelly killed a black cat loved by his wife, then brutishly murdered his wife instead of his second cat, and hid her carcass in the wall. I was confused with the…

This story reminds me of a few things in life that were a sign of things to come, in regards to having to deal with people of a particular nature. The uptight manager, well uptight in comparison my modern views, but this story is based in much more different time. A time where religion was more important in society. Elders had more implied respect in dealing with the younger generations. A view that really did complement the dissident that was hiding in Sammy at the end when the sunday school…
