    Stage 5 Turns out during one of Shaun and I’s nights out in Boston I had purchased a Powerball tickets. I had completely forgotten about this ticket in my back pocket of my jeans. I put them through the wash and my mom had found the ticket and gave it to me and said “Joey, do you want this Powerball ticket still? You just put it in the washing machine.” With the odds of winning the Powerball being so low. I thought about just throwing it away. I decided to take it to the local gas station and have it checked out. I walked in with my hood on, and handed the clerk my ticket. I was in the back grabbing a Red bull before my 6 hour shift. I came back to the counter and looked and the clerk was in complete shock. He couldn’t even speak, but he did hand me the ticket and point to the number on the screen. I looked and looked again, then I thought “holy shit, I won!” Speechless I ran home, barging through the front door and screaming words that I can’t even remember. My parents were beyond ecstatic, we drove down to the NH lottery center and asked “What do we do?” They told us we had to cash it with them there and take a total buyout of half of the winnings due to taxes and lottery fees. We were still taking home over 300million dollars. We waited a week for the check to clear and for our lawyers and accountants to figure out a financial plan so that the money did not potentially ruin our lives.
