The main topic of the source presented is how strong religious beliefs can strike a sense of nation within a people; subsequently creating a nation state. Cynical Beliefs About Human Nature and Income: Longitudinal and Cross-Cultural Analyses Olga Stavrova and Daniel Ehlebracht University of Cologne Based on the existing literature on worldview beliefs, cynical hostility, and Machiavellian cynicism, we suggest that holding cynical beliefs about human nature can be detrimental for individuals’ income. Cynical individuals are more likely to avoid cooperation and trust or to overinvest in monitoring, control, and other means of protection from potential exploitation. As a result, they are more likely to forgo valuable opportunities for cooperation and consequently less likely to reap the benefits of joint efforts and mutual help compared with their less cynical counterparts. Studies 1 and 2, using nationally represen- tative longitudinal surveys of the American population, show that individuals who endorsed cynical beliefs about human nature at baseline earned comparatively lower incomes 9 (Study 1) and 2 (Study 2) years later.…
Personal beliefs can affect the typical worker in any work environment, not in just a law firm. The best example for personal beliefs in the workforce can be identified with religion. Religion is one the largest topics of personal beliefs because something out of the ordinary that interferes with a worker's religious beliefs can create chaotic results in the workforce. In Hobby Lobby, their Christian belief systems had a controversy for paying for birth control to their workers. AT&T's workers are currently undergoing a strike because they do not want their job being outsourced to other countries.…
“A worldview is the particular bias in our presuppositions that influences how you look at the world and what we see or expect to see” (Drury). This is a quote from Keith Drury, who explains what a worldview is and how it is formed. I will be explaining my personal worldview as a Christian and how I began to see the world as I do now. I will then be explaining a different worldview from a very popular movie called Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, the first movie in the Harry Potter series. Since this is the first film of the Harry Potter series, we learn why Harry is the way he is—which is due to his parents being wizards.…
