Lately, I have been pondering on the harsh dress code rules. When did my shoulders become something I should be ashamed of showing? When did it become a secret that girls wear undergarments? Admonishing girls for letting their shoulders or bra straps show is the most ridiculous form of dress code. Dress coding this harshly can promote negative feelings about their bodies, when they already feel bad enough.…

There are many differences in school dress codes, for examples in our school, Sunset Ridge Middle School who has 12 different rules, the major being that we are not allowed to wear any articles of clothing that are mutilated, cut-off, or immodest. Stapley Junior High in Mesa, Arizona who only has six rules, are allowed to wear any article of clothing that do not show any straps, see through, or do not cover the entire back. Schools in different states have different dress code rules along with having teachers and administrators who have different interpretations of how they should be. Therefore, we do not know what dress code is the best or most correct for students and should allow the student to have their own decision in what they…

Administration such as Senator Stephenson must immediately send innocent children to the office for this ridiculous blue-coated “Dress-code Violation” attire and pressing suspension to those who wish not to humiliate and embarrass themselves throughout the school day. I say it is downright deliberate intent to embarrass every student in every way possible by their operation of throwing the “Blue Suit” upon us. But certainly, from here on out, Westlake High School Dress-code shall no longer be enforced. We, students of Westlake High School now consider ourselves free to wear as we wish. He has refused to pass other laws on how teachers shouldn’t loosely teach us students without the intent of us learning something, yet he’d rather enforce something less important in a school atmosphere; an interrupted right to wear what we solemnly desire to express ourselves.…

Schools enforcing a dress code on students will hinder them to express themselves who they want to be. For instance, a student who is into superheroes would wear a superman shirt with matching socks. They display the comic in heroes; express the true nerdy side and being a kid who wants to learn. They also can be good in different subject such as art, reading and writing from interest in comics. Or if a girl is into flowers and animals express that they are joyful, bright and cheerful.…

School dress codes are meant to make sure students are prepared for their future jobs and life. Continuing, Marisa Milone told her opinion on it from her experience, “The idea was that they couldn’t all be put in detention, could they? Yes. They could, and they did.” Schools should do whatever it takes to keep students in line.…

Making headlines and causing controversy in the following years are dress codes in schools. In the American school system students are allowed to wear no uniform granted they follow the rules. In 2014 students home were sent home for "exposed shoulders, thighs or for wearing revealing clothing". In Minnesota 200 students were sent home after wearing shorts in the middle of summer. Later that week at a different school asked female students out of class to be given an immediate assembly describing that shorts and yoga pants were not "permitted and distracting".…

If the situation is getting out of hand such as when the Albemarle County, Va passed rules towards a new dress code when lawsuits were filed and eventually taken to court where the judge said,”’the dress code is too broad-- and may be unconstitutional’”(Robson para. 6). With a school under these lawsuits and feeling as though their students are wearing inappropriate clothing; the easiest way to handle the situation is to enforce a school uniform. This way all genders are treated equally, the reasoning behind the rules are set in a reasonable manner, and the dress code is easy for everyone to follow. All schools that don't require a certain uniform including Jackson High School should adjust their dress code with the ideas of: the difficulty to follow the dress code, the reasoning behind the dress code, and the inequality of gender treatment. These changes in all schools alike would make the environment so much better for teenage girls constantly on the search for clothes that are, cute, appropriate, and fit their size.…

I believe that if dress codes are relaxed, employees will increase their job performance and overall confidence at work. This argument deals with human resources which is my current concentration in my major of business administration. This issue also arises in my current position at a bank.
