Lying is acceptable if it creates more positive results than negative ones. For example, in the excerpt it states that lying is justified to protect others. The example they give is Anne Frank and how long she survived because of lying. When they lied to save her life there was a very positive effect. If it wasn't for the Nazis that lived there lying we wouldn't of found out that much about World War II. In addition, in article 1 Randy Cohen says that if someone asks how they look, that you're better off lying. If they don't have any time to change how they look just lie, don't be mean and say they look bad because they'll be uncomfortable for the rest of the night.
