In chapter six of The pearl, Kino, Juana, and Coyotito travel north towards Laredo. While traveling they encounter tracker sent to find Kino. At nightfall Kino tells Juana to hide inside a cave while he tries to steal one of the trackers gun. While Kino is sneaking up on the trackers Coyotito starts crying and the trackers think that it is a coyote pup so one of them aims their gun at the cave and right before he shoots Kino jumps on to him and the tracker still fires the gun but the bullet hits Coyotito in the head. Kino is able to steal the gun and kill all of the trackers. After all the commotion Kino and Juana head home without Coyotito’s body. Finally when they arrive back home Kino goes to the water’s edge and looks at the surface of
