Greg's experience changed his sense of importance because he met Lemon Brown. At first he didn't care about what his dad had to say and he didn't listen to his dad. On page 18 it says, “He stood to go upstairs, thought of the lecture that probably awaited him if he did anything except shut himself in his room with his math book, and started walking down the street instead.” This is showing that Greg doesn't care about what his dad has to say. After meeting Lemon Brown when he leaves the abandoned apartment, he is smiling when he thought about the lecture he would get from his dad. On page 26 it says, “Greg pushed the button over the bell marked “Ridley” thought of the lecture his father would give him, and smiled.” This shows that Greg changed about how he feels toward what his dad has to say. …show more content…
When he found the Pearl all he cared about was what it was worth and all the stuff he could get with it. In the beginning of the story on page 24 it says, “We will have new clothes.” and it says, “We will be married in the church.” This means that Kino thinks with the money the Pearl is worth he can provide a good life for his family. Suddenly Kino started caring about the Pearl more than he cared about his family and it caused losses between him and his family. At the end of the story on page 89 it says, “And Kino drew back his arm and flung the pearl with all his might. Kino and Juana watched it go, winking and glimmering under the setting sun.” In addition, this shows that the pearl didn't mean anything to him anymore and in the end he didn't get anything he
