Peter Paul Rubens was an extraordinary artist developing masterpieces focused on Renaissance and Baroque artistry.
Paragraph 1-- Life
Peter Paul Rubens born in Seigen, Germany in 1577. His father, Jan Rubens, was a lawyer and a high ranked member of the counsel. His mother, Maria, was a strict Roman Catholic. His parents took Peter and his three siblings and moved away from Antwerp, to Netherlands to avoid religious conflicts.
After Peter’s Father’s death in 1587, the family moved back to Antwerp. When Peter was young around the age of thirteen, he had a job as a court page, but did not like what he was doing, so he quit to follow his interest in art.

Therefore, in May of 1600, Peter traveled to Italy to study different examples of classical and renaissance art, as he saw himself becoming the next great Renaissance artist.
During the next eight years, Rubens traveled around Spain, blending this style of art into his own. He was hired by Vincenzo Gonzaga to recreate Renaissance paintings, mostly of beautiful women of the court. After the end of one year of travel throughout Italy and Spain, Rubens had a portfolio of his works that expanded sixteenth century Italian art.

Unfortunately, she had passed before he arrived. Even though he planned to return to Italy, Peter was given the opportunity to become the court painter of the Spanish Netherlands. His first big project in Antwerp was to paint triptych for the church of St. Walburga which he named raising of the cross. This work of art led the way to Peter becoming the best artist of the city. Around this time Rubens began his own studio, with the help of his assistants and pupils, many pieces of art were produced. Around 1617 Anthony Van Dyck joined Rubens in creating many significant paintings.
Upon Peter Paul Rubens return to Antwerp, he also became involved in politics. His role in foreign affairs became notable in 1628 when he assisted in communicating between Spanish and English diplomats to bring unity between the countries. As Rubens was negotiating between countries many projects became available introducing the European world to his craftsmanship.
