A main part in Santiago's journey was over coming challenges. He had to overcome thing such as getting robbed (several times) the language barrier, and his own glubleness. In the text it states that he took out his money to get someone's attention then the man was hold Santiago and saying I want the money. Also later in the book Santiago let the alchemist take his money and give it away. Santiago had to overcome these thing by working harder and taking care of his money. The language barrier was something Santiago had to overcome because it was a reason a lot of bad things happened to him. Such as getting robbed in the bar scene, if he could speak the language which was arabic. Then he had to overcome his own glubleness. He meet many people in his journey but I will take about who I thought was the most important. The most important characters in the Alchemist are the merchant's daughter, Fatima, And the Alchemist these people impacted Santiago's journey because the merchant's daughter taught him that what you think you like may not be what is the best for you and then that's where fatima comes into play being Santiago's one true love.
