However, NASA’s funding has been all over the scale. With the budget being $16.2 billion in 2005, which includes the human spaceflight division, other engineering projects, and science which was all funded by NASA (curious.astro.cornell.edu). It spiked back up to $18.5 billion in the early twenty-tens (northeastern.edu), decreased since 2013, then increased again in 2015 (spaceflightnow.com). NASA accomplished many things in the twenty-tens with the higher budget rate. Like launching a rover to Mars in 2011 (science.nasa.gov), shut down the Space Shuttle after 30 years of work but flew three space shuttle missions before hand also in 2011 (space.com). In 2012 (budget at $18.7 billion), NASA carried out the very first commercial mission to the International Space Station (science.nasa.gov). The long list of accomplishments continued because of that higher …show more content…
Which doesn’t seem very major, especially in comparison to the EPA’s budget cut. However, the cut has majorly impacted NASA’s plans for 2017. NASA had to eliminate an entire education program. Which would’ve been responsible for outreaches and grants. The budget cut also was responsible for the cancellation of several missions. As well as technologies that are already in space, wasted (theverge.com). But it isn’t NASA’s fault the nation is trillions of dollars in debt, which is now president’s Trump issue to fix, but that’s an entirely different debate for an entirely different
