This scene is difficult to take. Mirrors everywhere makes the camera and lighting position a big challenge without showing any reflection during filming. With a limited room for the camera to maneuver, the director of photography successfully managed to film the entire ending of The Lady from Shanghai, flawlessly. That explains why most of the shots taken from a static position, or best yet just panning shot where the camera does not need to dolly up from one position to another, to prevent from being shown through mirror reflection.
