In any organization, the ability to develop leadership skills could mean the difference in failure or success. There are many important leadership concepts to consider. Of those, the ability to effectively delegate is a vital concept. One of the main benefits of delegation is increased efficiency for the leader/manager (Stonehouse, 2015). If a manager is going to efficaciously manage, delegation must be included in his/her skills (Grohar-Murray & Langan, 2011).

I initially gathered various materials from the textbook and other places to read to help understand the subject better. Then, the plan was implemented over five weeks of time at my job. I work as the manager of the ministries division of a large, busy church. Each week one task that could be delegated was identified. Routinely throughout the workweek the progress of delegating that particular task was evaluated. Important parts of the process for me were to make sure that the task actually got delegated and to appropriately follow through without micromanaging. This is a needed skill for anyone involved in leadership or management. I recognized delegation as a weakness in my life. With the use of the PDCA cycle, I was able to create a plan to improve my personal delegation skill. I implemented the proposed plan and collected data for five weeks. I analyzed the data and attempted to make since of what I discovered. The result was increased efficiency. Finally, I determined how I would act on the results in the foreseeable future by maintaining progress in some areas and making adjustments in others. Hopefully, I will continue to build on the skill of delegation in my life so that I become a better, more efficient leader and
