Good afternoon everyone. The word beauty can have so many different meanings to different people. Nowadays, many people choose to improve their appearance by cosmetic surgery. According to Oxford dictionary, cosmetic surgery is a treatment that is unnecessary from a medical perspective but is carry out to restore or improve a person’s appearance. A district in Korea, called Gangnam, is a place full with plastic surgery clinics. According to International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ISAPS) (as cited in Baer, 2015), Korea is the most popular plastic surgery operation in the world, with 1.43 million people getting it done in 2014. According to Marx (2015), a nose job or a double-eyelid surgery as a high-school graduation gift for a Korean teenager is normal. This is because some people may think that the better a person’s look, the more likely that person is to be successful. This is false because what determines if a person is success or not is the person itself. We have to accept the fact that everyone is unique. Our looks are a present from our parents and we should appreciate it. True beauty lies in your personality. If a man is considered ugly but has a good personality, people will find his or her attractiveness on the inside. That inner beauty is everlasting. Good looks fade with age. Most of the time patients think of only the positive outcome they will get. However, if the effect is not what you expected, the procedure can't be undone. You wouldn't be able to do anything about it except having another surgery, but it will simply be costly and might make the result worse. In addition, cosmetic surgery procedures can also cause diseases. According to Schaefer (2015), the diseases include excessive bleeding, nerve damage, infection, cancer, and even death.
