When many teenagers get there car the parents "installed a device that records video whenever she makes driving mistakes. It's called a DriveCam" (Tracking Teens). This is a big point in a kids life and the parents don't even let them have any freedom to do what they want. Even though "many felt the devices infringed upon the trust they had with their children" (Tracking Teens). It has shown that people with the Drive Cam had improved skills on the road but they give the kids no privacy. In real life there is technology that doesn't help us but instead hurts us. Overall technology is non beneficial for society. Clearly Lois Lowry is trying to tell us that in the giver technology isn't good and at a point technology is to much. And in the Giver everyone was monitored and told what to do. Technology isn't just hurting people in the book but also in real life, in real life technology effects people every day.
