Jonas goes through the departure stage. In the giver for the call to adventure , Jonas was chosen to be in the ceremony of 12 and he had gotten a job as a receiver. Then in the refusal of the call after the giver had gotten sick he wanted Jonas to take the pain away , so Jonas went back into memory but Jonas didn’t want to go back into memory of war he wanted to go back to his childhood. “The boy sighed. His head fell back , his lower jaw dropping as if he had been surprised by something. A dull blankness slid slowly across his eyes. He was silent.” Then in the beginning of the adventure Jonas started to feel real life feelings and he had knew no one else had knew what feelings were like he did.     Jonas is responsible for carrying the weight and knowledge of the past through memories, so other people do not have to do so. Jonas does not have memories of his own past as Offred and Tim O’Brien do, but rather his memories of are the past of what society was before it had transformed into a dystopia of uniformity.
