Lifelong learning and seamless progression from one level of education to another are two main goals in implementing IOM’s recommendations.
Team work between various health care professionals, or inter-professional collaboration, in need of the improvement in order to provide professional, high-quality, patient-centered care (California, n.d.). To ensure the realization of this particular goal, the California Action Coalition works with different health care disciplines in order to engage various team workers to be on the same page (California, n.d.). In California particularly, nurses are underrepresented in all industries (California, n.d.). Nurses involve greatly in the lives of the population, and different laws and polices influence not only lives of nurses as citizens and residents of the USA, but also those polices and laws influence nurses’ practice and workplaces. Therefore, nurses should be involved as leaders to present nurses’ viewpoints and interests in lawmaking processes (California, n.d.). The California Action Coalition works toward defining the nurse leadership role and creating opportunities for nurses to become influential leaders (California, n.d.).
Another area of change in the nursing field is diversity. This especially noticeable in California, as the population is very diverse (California, n.d.). Diversity brings unique health needs and problems to the healthcare system (California, n.d.). To recognize the multiple different unique needs of the population and implement right interventions in the health care system requires to have diverse health care providers and education about the differences especially about health problems among different population groups (California,
