It could be referring to his grandson — the youngest son of Ham. The Bible uses the word father for references to a grandfather as well as a father. That’s because there is no actual word for grandfather in the Hebrew language. The text clearly says “cursed be Canaan” — Noah’s grandson — not Ham, his son. It’s possible Ham simply discovered what his son, Canaan, had done to Noah and went and told his brothers. Perhaps he sensed something wicked in his son. Likely Noah would have still been asleep at this time. As Canaan’s father, Ham would have borne some degree of responsibility for the actions of his son. It may have in fact been fear of repercussions towards his son that caused Ham to go to his brothers about this. One of them is described as having 24 fingers and toes! The first generation of Israel that Moses lead out of Egypt died in the dessert because of their unwillingness to cross over the Jordan in order to conquer the land God gave them. They were afraid because the spies they sent in to scope out the land came back with a report of “giants”; giants so enormous that they made them look like grasshoppers. The King of Og was said to be the last of these giants. Deut. 3:11 says his bed measured 13x6 feet! Was there something evil passed down through the line of Canaan or was there further activity of demonic and human union? As one carefully studies the days of Noah and compares that to the days of Lot in Sodom, the similarities suggest that at least one of these is a likely possibility. The greatest post-flood Nephilim was none other than Nimrod, the great tower builder and type of Antichrist. He’s described as a “mighty man” (gibbor). The phrase “mighty man” can also be translated, “chief”. These were products of a union of humans and fallen angels. Soon, another union of the mightiest fallen angel and a man will take place to produce a “great chief” — which just so happens to be the meaning of the name —
