You hide behind your own shadow because you fear to speak, loving, trusting, and most of all you fear yourself. In Arthur Miller’s The Crucible, in a town of God fear strikes when a couple of young girls are discovered doing things they shouldn’t have been doing. They begin to blame others for there misbehaving. The people of Salem begin to go crazy, thinking its witchcraft, and almost kill off half their town. Abigail uses people’s fear of witchcraft and being accused of witchcraft as a way to gain control over the town. Danforth also uses others fear to keep control of the court so others don’t rise against him. While Mary Warren fears Abigail and Danforth she refuses to tell the truth about Abigail and the rest of the girls.In The Crucible
