The Black Cat Summary In the story “The Black Cat” Edgar Allan Poe writes about a sense of regretful death caused by the abuse of alcohol. The Black Cat taking place in the narrator’s house , and speaks about alcoholism driving the narrator insane and to abusing. This leads to the murder/death of the narrator’s cat (Pluto). The first complication being loneliness of the narrator after he hangs Pluto on the tree due to his eye. The second complication of the story being his house catching on fire, and the final complication being the accidental murder of his wife.
