This would help bring exercise routine in my daily schedule and the use of exercise to combat smoking would be less of change when attempting a behavior modification. I read that before attempting to lose weight a person should quit smoking first, well, I do not agree with this statement. A realistic view of accomplishing these goals needs to understand that while working towards smoking cessation several tools are available that will aid you to lose weight and not use tobacco. Reaching a goal does not have to be an all or nothing scenario but should use small steps that will reach the main outcome of a performance goal. Therefore, understanding the benefits from setting short-term goals that emphasize process and performance goals will encourage their endeavors to reaching their long-term outcome goals. Additionally, realizing that goals are not as easy to accomplish even with a plan or program will help me empathize with those around me who have trouble meeting their set goals. Humans have imperfections and will not always make the best choices, so, the ability to except that and the will to continue regardless of success will help me in future situations in relation to goal setting. The most important thing when faced with failures or mistakes is perseverance and knowing that success comes from hard work. Most individual’s will not reach their goal on their first attempt but having the will to continue even after failure will help their goal success.
