The advertisement campaign not only saved thousands of people’s live, but it impacted millions. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “Since 2012, CDC estimates that millions of Americans have tried to quit smoking cigarettes because of the Tips campaign, and at least a half million cigarette smokers have quit for good” (). These numbers are astonishing and proves how effective this ad campaign was thanks to Terrie and other individuals who were brave and courageous enough to share their stories of how smoking affected them. “In 2016, the average weekly call volume to 1-800-QUIT-NOW was 92.7% higher than the average call volume during the two-week baseline period, representing almost a doubling of call volume” (). Who would have thought a simple commercial on tv would have helped change, bring awareness, and positively impact so many lives.
The Tips Campaign was successful and impactful. Anyone who watched and saw Terrie as well as many others share their stories were all impacted in someway. The advertisement campaign was not fancy, full of color, or happy. It was blunt, colorless, and simple. It got the job done by including ethos, pathos, and logos. Being able to actually see what Terrie had to go through left an impact on the viewer. She helped changed thousands of people’s lives and stopped many from even beginning to smoke. All it takes is one person to share their story with the world to help change and impact the world
