Growing up I had never heard of or used MLA style, that is something I was never taught in school until this class, now I know what it is and how to use it to write a paper. Included with the MLA method, we had to include citations of all our work and put a work cited page at the end, again something I had never had to do before, now I am confident in how to do that. In our last essay, the synthesis, we had to do research on a topic and write an essay, because of that, I now know how to use the library database. I believe that having the knowledge of the library database will help me in my future class, especially English 1030, which I am not looking forward too. The last thing that I can see that has improved is my thesis statements and introductory paragraph, in the reading response essay I was told that my thesis need to be a little clearer, but my intro was decent. With that being said, unfortunately, I do have to take English 1030 before I can graduate, so there are a few things I can do to make that class go smoother. Leave my opinion out of things and put my bias views aside unless specifically asked for them. Proof read, proof read, and proof read again, I had many mistakes that if I just proof read properly I could have caught some of them. I also realized I need to get someone else to proof read my work for me because my mind automatically reads things how it is supposed to be not how it is on the paper. Help, never be afraid to ask for help and don’t wait until it is to late. If I would have sucked up my pride and went and seen the tutor sooner I would probably have that A I so desperately wanted. In conclusion, I didn’t really improve my writing skills but on the plus side they did not get any worse. To succeed in future English classes I, need to lose the attitude I have towards the subject and admit I need
