Concrete Experience
This assignment will be a reflection based on t8he experiences I encountered during my inter-professional learning sessions. The assignment will be in relation to the Kolb Reflective cycle (1984) where Kolb looked at different parts of reflection and with that information; he created a cycle to represent it. There are four parts of the cycle: Concrete experience, Reflective observation, Abstract conceptualization and Active Experimentation. Inter-professional education mainly focuses on how professionals work together and the benefits and implications that we may come across when working with other professionals from different professions. The things that makes communication effective are good listening skills; it helps that you are listening to what someone has to say without judging because we need to become more open-minded. Being open minded helps to give the other individual a chance for them to speak their mind and say what they have to say without them feeling as though they will be interrogated. It is normal for groups to have pitfalls and barriers because some time through their work but the struggles help to improve your group. When working to achieve the same goal, the outcome is normally twice as better and as a team the goal gets accomplished with every members input. With everyone having the same goals, things like decision making and having a shared responsibility will be a key factor to having good inter-professional practice. My IPE group we all shared the same goals (to have the best presentation) and because of this, we worked hard and eventually achieved what we had worked hard for (Paul and Peterson 2001)
One of the challenges that can come with inter-professional practice can be the lack of confidence within the group. When a member of the group lacks confidence, it can be tough because it can affect how the group works. During the presentation, no one lacked confidence and we were all quite confident in what we were doing because we knew what we were doing but it was hard because we did not prepare how to stay it and who is going to go first so that is what made things much more difficult and this can also link with the challenge or barrier of organisational
