Bradbury’s Short Story Opinion
The original short story “All Summer in a Day” was engaging. I felt part of the story because Ray Bradbury put me at that perspective. He also changed my mind about science fiction which I haven’t normally enjoyed. I felt as if I was trapped on the endlessly wet plant of Venus for years, until the sun rose again. The movie adaptation didn’t allow me the same vision of being on the planet. My favorite parts of the story were Margot, the students, and the ending of the short story. I enjoyed Margot for her personality and the ending because I could come up with it myself. I enjoyed how the students acted towards Margot because they were harsher and that made Margot seem more independent. Choosing between the movie adaptation and original short story was hard, but in conclusion, the short story was better.
The main character in the short story was Margot, who had a quiet personality which was unique and unusual. I appreciated the fact that Margot was a shy character rather than a perky, gleeful character. I like that because it made Margot more self-reliant. That made her a more enjoyable character. I also admired

The things that I compared in this essay were Margot, the students, and the ending. Margot was a very enjoyable character. The students were all a group and I enjoyed that because it made Margot seem more of an independent character. I also enjoyed the ending because I could come up with the rest of it because it was a cliffhanger. To sum up this essay I want to say my favorite parts of the story. My very favorite part was being able to come up with the ending. I decided that Margot got revenge on the students because it would give the story more action. I also decided that Margot would get revenge but still let them see the sun because it may become a repetitive circle if they continued getting revenge on each

Both Werner and Marie-Laure are extremely resourceful when solving problems and dealing with life's struggles. They keep a cool head in stressful, dangerous, and frightening situations. I think that this book is very relatable to my childhood, and each character I can see my personality in. Journal 2: The bombings of Marie-Laure's and Werner's city is tragic, I felt like I was with them through every detail, as I mentioned in my first journal, Marie-Laure and Werner show superior strength even in the most stressful situations; Marie-Laure and her father flee France in hopes of a safer…

I believe the way Tatiana De Rosnay alternated Julia and Sarah’s stories and time frames was effective. Reading about these events through two different points of views was really interesting. While reading Julia’s point of view, we can see that some people are guilty of not caring or are oblivious to the Vel’ d’Hiv roundup, however in Sarah’s point of view, we can understand the fear and humiliation the Jews were going through. There were also a few drawbacks in this style as well.…

Thought the story she had strength and a weakness mainly her strength is at being very protective around her boyfriend and not letting other girls be around him even the good girls. Her weakness was seeing her get slapped in the face when she saw that a good girl was kissing her boyfriend. In this story she acted like a real person by how she speaks and acts but in the story she never got older, I found the characters likeable because she had a goal and a purpose to want to be with that boy, my overall judgment was that I loved it I did not really get at first but I read and love the story I would recommend this story to somebody who loves…

In the short story “Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?” by Joyce Carol Oates, character is an important element, as shown at the beginning when the narrator says, “she was fifteen and she had a quick, nervous giggling habit of craning her neck to glance into mirrors or checking other people’s faces to make sure her own was all right” (Oates). The narrator is referring to the protagonist of this story, whose name is Connie. Connie’s character is important throughout the entire story, especially when she begins to distrust Arnold Friend and “could see that he wasn’t a kid, he was much older—thirty, maybe more” (Oates).…

“All Summer in a day” describes the lives of children living on venus, where the sun comes out every seven years. The author Ray Bradbury does a fabulous job of incorporating some strong, and minor symbolism in the short story. Though it can be said that he uses other forms of author’s craft, Ray chose to incorporate symbolism into almost every paragraph of his story. The next time the reader has an opportunity to explore Ray Bradbury’s stories, look for the embedded symbolism throughout the…

In “The Diary of Anne Frank,” the reader is introduced to eight characters who are hiding the annex, each with a unique personality. I found that I could identify with some of the characters, but some I was unable to relate to. The character that I am most similar to is Margot Frank because of our studious habits and our role as a “middleman” in another relationship. Mr. Van Daan and I shared minimal qualities so he was the clear choice for the person that was most different from me.…
