The bus was humid and muggy as I hunched over the “cheat sheet” Mr. Garner had given me to memorize a month before. However, being the mindful person I am, I decided to start the memorization process the night before. I poured over the paragraph I had been allocated over and over, until I had a shaky assurance that I could complete the task at hand.

There was a distinct pause in the rhythm that had been established previously as it seemed that I was trying to comprehend the situation I was in. I composed myself, looked forward, and smiled, despite the fact that I was shaking and my knees felt like they were about to give out. I began saying my part as I had a thousand times before, and, as if I was being rewarded for my due diligence, the words once more flowed out of me, just as if I was in front of a mirror at my house.
Shortly after I had once more recited my part, the presentation was over, and my team walked out of the room with a cadence we had practiced weeks to synchronize.
We walked out the door, and waited for it to close. As soon as we heard the clasp of the handle, everybody let out a sigh in unison, as the pressure that had compressed our breath was released.
My team and I were then lead back into a holding room with our opponents to wait for results.
