Capital demanded tribute from provinces (doc. M), used to be subservient to Azcapotzalco, but allied with Texcoco and Tlacopan to overthrow. Formed triple alliance and eventually ruled over allies. Lands became fiefs held in permanent inheritance, this erodes original kinship basis of calpulli (kinship/landholding groups).
