Unlike the way John Stossel sees it in his documentary, Is America Number One, America is no longer the greatest country in the world. While we are better off than some of the countries that there are out there such as India, a country that is so overpopulated that it is hard to even compare the two countries, we are still not at the top of the list, literally. As we were once known for freedom and equality for all people, incredible political leaders, and rankings far ahead of other countries, we as Americans seem to forget that times have changed and that other countries have caught up to us. One of the main arguments that is brought up when people are asked why America is so great is freedom and equality. Yeah, it is fantastic that we are free but... were not the only ones.…

Pros and Cons of American Imperialism America is one of the most powerful nations of the world. Its sheer size, economy, territories, and technological advancements make it so influential that many smaller nations or cultures look up to America as if it were a god. Many decades ago, America established its dominance over other nations, particularly during the two world wars by showing off its military prowess and interfering with what are supposedly local affairs of other governments. Imperialism is more of a negative idea than a positive one – it signifies a nation's thirst for expansion at the expense of others.…

The United States is a country built on the oppression of others. It started with the brutalization of the Native Americans, then the capture and enslavement of thousands of Africans, and even today continues on through the mistreatment and underpaying of many immigrate groups. In the United States and even in other countries people are sold the idea of the American Dream, a philosophy that states that anyone can succeed in American if their willing to work hard enough, but so far it is still only a dream. Although no one wants to believe that they have an unfair advantage, in this country certain opportunities are only given to those who are seen as having the “right” skin color, gender and sexuality. Looking out from the inside of this nation, no, I do not believe that America is the greatest country in the world. Just like Will's opinion, I believe that we very well could have been the best in the past. We used to have sound morals, we didn't hold money over doing whats right, and we certainly didn't cheat people over with simplicities. Although, in the past, we have had rather massive problems. Racist people were more common, sexist people were more common, more conflict was common.…
