I have been looking into getting into criminology here at UNI for my major. I always thought it would be a cool fun job to be a police officer. If I did become a police officer I would want to do it at a bigger city. This is why I choose to do my job shadow at the Waterloo Police Department. Waterloo is the biggest city with the most crime, that is closest to cedar falls. I want a job that you will always live on the end and that will be different from day to day. So, I called down the the Waterloo Police Department and got transferred over to with Sgt. Clark, which is who I ended up doing my ride along with. The process of setting up a job shadow with them was a lot easier than I expected it to be. Here is my experience of going to the Waterloo Police Department and doing a ride along with Sgt. Clark, (9 years.)

Clark has worked at the waterloo department for 9 years and says he will continue to work there until he is ready to retirer. It’s good to hear that the people there like there job even though how stressful it is and want to stay there. It gives me reassurance on going into this field that people enjoy doing there job and really making a difference in the

I am writing to express my appreciation for the opportunity to serve the Town of Fairplay as a police officer and police chief over the past 5 years. When I accepted the position of police chief in July, 2014 I assumed responsibility for a department decimated by the dishonorable, unethical and illegal behavior of former employees. As a long-time resident of the Town I was faced with finding another job and uprooting my family or staying and taking on the task of rebuilding the department. I accepted the challenge with my primary goal making the Town of Fairplay a safer community and improving the reputation of the Fairplay Police Department(FPD). Everyone involved in the hiring process knew I had not previously served as a police chief.…
