The cry of a hopeless child on a broken night can be as silent a whisper in the dark. A harsh reality faced in many countries is the ongoing uphill battle against female sex trafficking. The long term effects of such an unspeakable act are drastically seen though many parts of the countries trafficking consumes. Although sex trafficking has been going on for centuries it has dramatically increased in the past decade.
The way the people end up in sex trafficking varies, because every story is different. But sadly some of the girls have actually been sold by their parents into trafficking, only for their parents to profit an average of $90 due to the poor economy. Children sold into slavery are normally sold between the ages of 12-14 years and sadly an estimated 2.4 million are involved in trafficking worldwide. Others that end up in that situation are commonly kidnapped off of the street and taken with force. It has shown in recent studies that less developed countries have a much higher trafficking rate them developed countries. Also increased in areas containing drug lords and dictatorships. One of the most common countries housing such a horrible thing is Indonesia. The variety of island only adds to the amount of people being trafficked from place to place. Along with the fact that they have little to no borders and or actual laws of the land, what they do have is ineffective. Another troublesome area is the country of Cambodia. It is a relatively small place; however, the country has such a high poverty and crime rate that the number of people involved in sex trafficked is drastically high for a country that size. Also being so poverty stricken the survival age is very low and therefore, has resulted in a more dangerous place for situations like female
