Personal Narrative: My Weight Loss Diet Program

Dieting seems to be all the rage right now. Skinny people that want to lose a pound or two does not compare to those of us who are overweight and struggling to lose weight. I have been there, but, thanks to Weight Watchers, I am no longer struggling in my weight loss plan. After searching, trying, and failing many different varieties of diet, I saw a Weight Watchers commercial on TV, advertising a free week trial. I put down the remote, and logged on to receive my free trial. I didn't know much about the program before logging on, but the website was laid out to be very user-friendly. I was able to read about the programs, both the Core program and the Points program, and was able to compare the two to find the best fit for me. The Core program …show more content…
The best thing about this diet program is that there is no measuring, counting, or weighing the food. You can eat until you are full. Now, I am a huge pasta and potato gal, so you can imagine how relieved I was when I found out I could bake or mash red potatoes, and replace my pasta noodles with whole-grain pasta. At this point, I was starting to think that this wasn't just another fad diet, it was a complete change of eating habits. I was planning on getting rid of my chocolates and sweet foods. That was, until I read the part of the program stating in addition to all the many foods allowed on the Core diet, I also received 35 "flex" points for each week. Now, I wasn't sure what exactly flex points were, but when I continued reading, I found out how great these flex points really were. Flex points is set up to work with the Core diet, allowing the intake of food not listed on the Core food list. Flex Points are points assigned to virtually any food a person can think of, both groceries and fast food. For example, my favorite breakfast, a Krispy Kreme doughnut, can't be found on the Core food list.
