Personal Narrative: My Personal Goal With My YES Abroad

“My personal goal with my YES Abroad year is to make people smile. The reason being simply, to me a smile means that despite language barriers, despite cultural differences, we can come together and be happy, because happiness and kindness are the corner stones needed to build bridges between cultures” - @yesabroad participant. YES Abroad participants travel to foreign countries where they live with a host family and attend a local high school. Through the exchange, participants learn about other cultures, but also share their own heritage as youth ambassadors for their country. Leadership programs such YES Abroad are essential to inspiring today’s youth to broaden their perspectives by connecting with other cultures. This year’s application
