I want to join the Marines over the other branches probably due to how I have grown up next to Camp Pendleton. Living in San Clemente offers our community an opportunity to get to know the Marines stationed at Camp Pendleton and they have had a tremendous influence on my life. I worked with the range master on approval of design and logistics. I designed the deck, created a bill of materials, generated a work schedule, held a fund raiser and received discounts from local vendors. I then lead a team of six people and managed the construction. I spent over 100 hours on the project.
• Camp Counselor at Camp Pupukea in Hawaii. I have worked at the camp for the last three summers. I lead scouts and adults in activities taught merit badge classes, worked on conservation projects and life guarded.
• Member Yale Model Congress: lead a committee and passed a bill to fund educational opportunities for people in the Armed Services.
• Attended RYLA Camp (Rotary Youth Leadership Award). Youth leadership training camp designed to enhance personal development, leadership skills and good citizenship.
• AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) Peer Tutor: tutor younger students.
