When I first came to the United States, I didn’t know anything about English. The language, the pronunciation, its rules in writing, nothing. I felt like a two-year old trying to learn how to talk, read and write all over again. I was an outsider to this new culture. However, I needed to learn the language to get ahead. My learning has not stopped and I’m still the bookworm that I was back then. I write horrible essays, but I’m working on it. Reading came easily to me but writing did not. Writing was the most difficult part of the English language. My grammar was so terrible. My punctuation was out of line and my spelling could have made the english department cry. However, I came across this book called Basic English Grammar for Dummies which helped alot. My writing was improving also because I was watching kids’ shows.
