However his interest in mathematics had certainly been sparked by his father's teaching, and he continued to read mathematics texts on his own time and took some private lessons. John Bernoulli took a great interest in Euler when he was teaching him in a private lesson. He saw that Leonhard had great potential in the field of mathematics (O’Connor n.pag). In seventeen twenty-three Leonhard completed his masters degree in philosophy. In the fall of seventeen twenty-three he began his study in theology. Euler finished his studies completely in seventeen twenty-six. Also in seventeen twenty-six Euler had a paper in print, a short article on isochronous curves in a resisting medium (O’Connor n.pag).
Moving to Russia in seventeen twenty-seven, Euler served in the navy before joining the St. Petersburg Academy (Leonhard Euler Biography n.pag). Euler served as a medical lieutenant in the Russian navy from seventeen twenty-seven to seventeen thirty. He stayed and lived with Daniel Bernoulli in St. Petersburg. Euler became professor of physics at the Academy in seventeen thirty and, since this allowed him to become a full member of the Academy, he was able to give up his Russian navy post (O’Connor …show more content…
Petersburg (Leonhard Euler Biography n.pag). Euler spent the first half of the day as any other usual day. He gave a mathematics lesson to one of his grandchildren, did some calculations with chalk on two boards on the motion of balloons. He then discussed with Lexell and Fuss the recently discovered planet Uranus. About five o'clock in the afternoon he suffered a brain haemorrhage and uttered only "I am dying" before he lost consciousness. He died about eleven o'clock in the evening (O’Connor
