I feel it is important to note that these programs are very new and have not been established for long, so although a lot of their accommodations for children do not meet the Infant/Toddler Environment Rating Scale, at least when I observed, it is understandable why. However, the infant and toddler rooms had great outdoor space for gross motor play and is located by a nature trail surrounded by trees and other natural life. When it came to behavioral problems in the classroom, the teachers would very rarely address the inappropriate behavior of a the student, and instead would just give them a time-out type of punishment. Some children would have to move a clip with their name on it from a “paying attention, learning” board, to one reflecting their current attitude, “disruptive, not focused.” However, in this process, the student was never thoroughly spoken to about their actions, although, I must note again, that I was only present for a short period of time and while issues may have been addressed at a later date, they were not when I was
