While some differences between “My Father’s Song” and “My Mother” are noticeable, the similarities are pronounced. Love is a true expression in both of these poems. It is both heard and felt, along with pain and agony, however we hear many times that love conquers all. These poems did an impeccable job at portraying just that. The speakers show the readers that when you long for a lost one you are still left with beautiful memories and they remind us that with age comes wisdom and with wisdom comes appreciating those around you while you still can.
