Monsky's Assassination Analysis

In this article, Monsky claims that media coverage played an influential role in the way Americans remember and think about the assassination President Kennedy. However, Monsky argues that the continuous media coverage of the President shapes the views regarding the assassination of the Kennedy. According to Monsky (5) newspapers such as the “Dallas Times Herald” published the primary motorcade routes President Kennedy would use through downtown Dallas before his trip. As such, the assassin got prior information on specific areas to target the president. The media played a critical part in the impending assassination of the President. Upon his assassination, the media made long coverage of the events with national television networks interrupting their normal programs. In the jail where Oswald was being held, some news reporters gathered with the hope of getting the best story from him. As such, the media created frenzy within the police headquarters.
