Disability Oppression is evident within society. It looks at the increasing negative attitudes around the world through certain exclusionary institutions, as well as unequal access to resources and opportunities. The typical response to the concept of disability is as having an impairment, a limitation, or a deficiency. For instance, the apparent exclusion from the public sphere, including how our environments are built and arranged that can contribute to feelings of isolation. Misfits are great navigators through space and time. A material specificity determines both a meaning and its outcome. People are constantly transforming within themselves, as well as their location within a shifting world. Feminist theory looks at the concept of fluidity and the conditions whereby things that need to be noticed and attended to are present. For this paper, fluidity is defined as the concept that one’s identity does not exist in a single state, but rather across perceived boundaries. Theory is aligned with being aware of who may be excluded or isolated, while also having the role of being responsible for others (Verwaayen, Lecture 1). People with disabilities are a prime exemplification of a group of people who have been ignored and considered to be inferior, as they are seen as misfits. However, the Feminist theory and practice should be attending to them, as they are in need of attention. Misfits challenge the environment to welcome and accommodate them.
